Gertrude Schmeidler

Also Gertrude R. Schmeidler, G. R. Schmeidler, Prof. Schmeidler, Professor Gertrude Schmeidler

A psychologist at the City College of New York whose research the documents cite often; she is credited with the sheep/goat effect, in which believers score better than skeptics, and a grant application in the release calls hers the most systematic American study of psychological factors in ESP performance. Her paper "PK Changes in Recordings of Temperature" reports that Ingo Swann seemed able to change the temperature of a distant object. In 1977 Puthoff and Targ cited a letter from her praising their book Mind-Reach, describing her as a leader in the field and one of the most conservative with respect to their work.
