SUMMARY OF INFORMATION
Robert Polhill is currently located at the same location in
Beirut as previously reported on 18
August 1988.
Polhill is able
to sit up daily; he is now aware of the possibility of release
from captivity.
The efforts of a US negotiator phonetically
.
identified as "Strud/Studdle", a tip-off provided by
HUMINT/SIGINT, the assistance of the Syrians, all
appear
to
facilitate the early release Polhill from captivity.
The release of USMC LTC Higgins is scheduled to take place
before the release of Polhill.
"Strud/Struddle" also facilitates
the release of Higgins who is currently located at Ash-Shuwayfat
located south of the Beirut International Airport and immediately
north of his last reported location at Khabah.

Terry Waite, Terry Anderson, and Jesse Turner are currently
located in the Beqaa Valley at Area
1 of ENCLOSURE 2.
Thomas
Sutherland who was previously in the Beqaa Valley area was
transferred to Beirut.
Joseph Cicippio and Alan Steen are currently on their way to
"Aynata" via an area identified as "Bayt Yahun/Kunin"; they are
somehow involved in "some sort of cross-fire activity (not
further described) .
They will be "dumped" in an area located in
the immediate surroundings of "Aynata".
The captors will then
proceed east towards "Nasir". See ENCLOSURE 3.

Thomas Sutherland was transferred to an area located
immediately southwest of the Fire and Police Station at the
Beirut International Airport and identified as the "Underground
Aqueduct (ENCLOSURE 4. ).
He is being kept in a vault, that
resembles a "forum" (stage) that is partially underground.
Edward Tracy, finds himself with Rudolf Cordes, the German
national, and Frank Reed; they are located north of the military
barracks. The military barracks is fast becoming a holding area
of secondary importance.
The ultimate purpose remains to transport the hostages to
Iran via chopper; this has not been accomplished to date.
There are no other hostages with Higgins; he will be the
first to be released from captivity.
