Approved For Release 2000/08/09 : CIA-RDP96-00789R003500320004-5 WORKING PAPER 8907 890227 079 S: 01 SUMMARY OF INFORMATION The target structure is a "big, tall, long, elongated" building with windows .. . some sort of plant. It is located near water and harbors a secret , developmental activity. The activity appears shrouded in secrecy and deals with "Soviet-designed" submarines described as "smaller and faster than the "tornado" (typhoon?) and projected to be used mainly in "low intensity conflicts. " This (submarine) model is faster, more complex, more robotic (automated) . Advanced computer technology in the form of advanced micro-chips, facilitate these developments. Conceptually there is a perception of weaponry that can be "snapped on or snapped off" (interchangeability); a second perception indicates the presence of sophisticated equipment that will allow for the collection and transmission of information (to a land base or sea base area. ) These constitute the hallmarks of these improvements. The names "Pitar/Rotary/Ritter" phonetically surfaced as being associated with this advanced weaponry. The name Stuart/Stewart surfaced as possible being knowledgeable of this activity.
