SUMMARY
USMC LTC William (Rich) Higgins and his captors are currently on
land, near the water, in a wooded brush area located in the
vicinity of Wadi az
Zaynah.
The captors are at an impasse.
Communications with the base area of operations have been lost.
They are without any local,
logistical support.
They currently
sleep "on the dirt" in the bush.
Access to Beirut is precluded
by the presence of (Syrian?) forces in the southern portion of
that city.
They are more or less constantly on the move and are
now
heading
south along the coast towards Sidon.
Their ultimate
goal at this time is to return to the area of Arab Salim.
They
are either in or heading south towards an area known as "Chole".
(Chole is not shown on the area map utilized during the session) .
The captors have no automobiles at their disposition and their
food supplies are low.
They are very much aware of the
persistent pressure exerted against them by the Israeli
forces.
Negotiations are ongoing for the release of US hostages
(associated with the University of Beirut); however, the
(moderate) Lebanese negotiators have no claim or authority on LTC
Higgins.
In the near future (6 to 16 days) , the (moderate)
Lebanese
negotiators will convince the Hezbollah-oriented captors
of Higgins to release LTC Higgins.
The Hezbollah-oriented
captors who already feel somewhat abandoned and alone in this
venture, will release LTC Higgins.
Tunisia may very well play a
roll in (future?) negotiations related to the hostages.

American senator may very well play a part in the negotiations of
US hostages who were associated with the University of
Beirut.
Efforts by the (West) German diplomatic corps become
successful in obtaining the release of Cordes in June
1988 (this
data merely confirms previous reporting on Cordes) .
