No inclemencies noted.
Reported
neutralization of the incident precluded further exploitation.
However a dump of data related to possible acts of terrorism in
the September and October 1988 time frame were surfaced.
Areas
targeted were located in Japan, the Philippines, and in Germany.

SUMMARY OF INFORMATION
At this time, there is no further relevant data that can be
furnished and meaningfully affect the outcome of the planned
highjacking of a US aircraft with 28 DOD-affiliated persons
aboard in Athens, Greece.
Sufficient data has been furnished to
allow authorities on the scene with the assistance of the FAA, to
successfully neutralize this specific threat.
There is a high potential
for terrorist
activities projected
for the September/October
1988 time window.
There is a
likelihood of terrorist
activities directed against US interest
in the PACOM.
The first target is a multi-service but
predominantly naval base located in the vicinity of Iwaki
(Taira) , Japan.
The second target is a facility
located in the
vicinity of Tinaca Point,
the Philippines.
In the USAREUR area, an international
meeting taking place at
a convention center in Munich, Germany, again resurfaced as a
likely target of independent
(non-Iran
sponsored )
terrorist
activity.
Terrorists plan to use blue and white vans with tinted
windows in this attempt in Munich.
Access
is to be gained
via
tunnels (not further described) .
Stuttgart
(EUCOM HQS)
also
appears to be a high risk area in the September 1988 time frame.
US military officers tentatively described as COL, COL (P) , BG,
John Abrams and/or John Knox were described as US high priority
targets for kidnapping.
