(S/NF/SK) MISSION: Refine results of topical search conducted on 8 and 18 July 1988 respectively to determine the nature and circumstances related to the projected highjacking of an Eastern Airline flight on or about 31 July 1988. 2. (S/NF/SK) VIEWER TASKING: Refine results of topical search in accordance with mission-tasking, above. 3. (S/NF/SK) COMMENTS: No inclemencies noted. Viewer 079 was reluctant in pursuing this effort to determine the nature of a future activity as a result of a topical search. Working against an event in future time is a precocious endeavor in view of several possible but precarious alternatives: First, the event does not take place; Secondly, the event took place but nothing was done to avert the disaster; Thirdly, the event took place and the viewer is expected to predict other future events with an equally high degree of accuracy~ Past endeavors reveal the conduct of topical searches and future events to be our weakest point with the least likelihood of accuracy. A summary is attached. (S/NF/SK) : EVALUATION: 4. HANDLE VIA SKEET CHANNELS ONLY w"" /NOFORN CLASSIFIED BY: DIA (DT) DECLASSIFY: OADR Approved For Release 2000/08/08 : CIA-RDP96-00789R003400500001-9
Approved For Release 2000/08/08 : CIA-RDP96-00789R003400500001-9 1 26 br/ 88 079 88/3 SUMMARY OF INFORMATION During the period of 1 August 1988 through 8 August 1988 an Eastern Airlines private charter flight originating from New York with twenty-eight persons aboard, mostly men, and with Athens, Greece, as its initial destination, is in danger of being highjacked upon its arrival. Athens is the first stop of an agenda by high ranking technicians/industrialists who are scheduled to visit US military installations in Greece, England, and Germany. These installations are responsible for the implementation of (upgrade?) electronic satellite communication gear and network. A check of Microfiche File Number GGY09 (GG109) available via Eastern Airlines either in New York or at National Airport, Washington D.C., can reveal corroborative evidence of the existence and purpose of the projected flight. Terrorists in Greece, dressed in brown apparel with (the equivalent of) billy clubs and using an official automobile will attempt to access and highjack the aircraft The cities of Naples, Italy, and Istanbul, Turkey, are also somehow associated with this event.
