Saint Basil's Cathedral
A 16th century Russian church
on Red Square in Moscow, now a museum.
Commissioned by Ivan IV
to commemorate his victories over the Mongol Khanates of Khazan
and Astrakhan, it was dedicated to the Blessed Virgin but is
called the Cathedral of St. Basil the Blessed. The church
built between 1555 and 1560 by Postnick and Barma combines the
stone Byzantine Dome style and the wooden Russian Tent shaped
style. The stone structure is dominated by a high octogonal
tower over a central chapel. The tower is surrounded by eight
smaller towers over four large octogonal chapels on the main
axes and four small polygonal ones between.
They are enclosed
by a gallery built later. The towers and their onion shaped
domes are heavily carved and though originally white-washed,
have been polychromed since the 17th century creating an exotic
splendor.

SUMMARY OF INFORMATION

Site is a structure. The dimensions of the structure

include diagonals. steep verticals and many curves or
arches (see sketch page 3). The site is inert, Cold and
very quiet. I experienced an Al of abandonment, alone and
quiet surroundings.
There is a large amount of stone
used
in the construction of the building -- it looks like
(AO: /S) a brownstone building. There are lots of windows ,
and the building is e maybe 8 stories high. On the top of
tie main structure there are bumps, poles and wires. There
are siso lots of smail squares inherent to the structure's
surface.
there are aspects of the insice of the structure which
appear broken old and cracked (see AOL sketch, page 5).
There are many floors to the structure, in fact there is an
aspect of structure above structure about the site.

There are rooms
in the structure which have folded
cloth in them.
Inside
room "A" there is a picture which has
# larue gold frame
around it;
there are also tables
and
chairs, the room is long and the ceiling is low (normal
height). Concepis associated with the word "picture" are:
frame, canvas. man, dignitary,
i amous ,
important, leader
party, government, political, and historical.
The man in the picture can be described as having
short dark hair, wire rim classes, dark ornate suit and a
large moustache. He is seated and looking to the right. The
man in the picture is intense, serious, weil read, studied ,
@ducated, directed, organized, oriented, loving, a father
a husband; and he is associated with business, science
he is a founder, a leader and president of something.
