On 5 November 1981, from 1400-1515 hours I met with

NSA member of DoD GF Committee, at my office. The meeting was requested
by
He prefaced the conversation by indicating he was only
representing himself and not the Director NSA.

stated that the DIRNSA hand not made any decision on any
of the recommendations of the advisory committee he had directed to in-
vestigate NSA direct involvement in GF activities. While

not directly state what the recommendations were, from the tone of our con-
versation two of the possible courses of action are: join the DoD effort,
or initiate an effort strictly in-house.

asked if NSA became involved in GF activities, could we
(INSCOM) support NSA.
I informed
that first a request would
have to be made to DA (ACSI) and if DA concurred, Commander INSCOM as the
Operational Commander would have to decide if or how much support could be
provided.
