Suspected Red Brigades Strategist, Others Netted in Rome Raid
ROME-Italian antiterrorist po-
lice searching for kidnaped U.S.
Brig. Gen. James L. Dozier arrested
'a suspected Red Brigades strategist
and nine other suspected guerrillas
in a major operation yesterday, in-
formed judicial sources said.
: Giovanni Senzani, 42, whom po-
lice link to previous Red Brigades
kidnapings, was captured in an East
Rome tenement building, the sources
said, and at least one woman was
arrested there.
Security sources said earlier that
those detained in raids on three
hide-outs at dawn in the Rome area
included key suspects wanted for
questioning in the Dec. 17 abduction
of Dozier, the highest-ranking Amer-
ican at NATO's base in the northern
Italian city of Verona.
The police found ground-to-air
'missiles, bazookas, rocket-propelled
grenades as well as documents.
Senzani, a former Florence Uni-
versity criminology professor, was at
the top of Italy's most wanted list
for a year. Police say he leads the
. Rome and Naples cells of the Red
Brigades. It is the Venice group.that
is sought in Dozier's kidnaping.
Senzani had been an adviser to
the Justice Ministry, where Judge.
Giovanni d'Urso was a. top official.
D'Urso was kidnaped, and Senzani
disappeared shortly afterward.
D'Urso was released .unharmed
after several newspapers published
Red Brigades statements and the
state closed a maximum-security
prison. Officials said they had
planned to close the prison anyway.
Meanwhile, investigators con-
firmed that Dozier's wife, Judith,
underwent further questioning but
that it had been arranged Friday.
