Psychics Pinpoint Sunken Wreck
In 1,500 Square Miles of Ocean
Two psychics - working independently of each other
exactly pinpointed the site of an unknown 1890s' shipwreck off
the coast of California and accurately described artifacts di-
vers would find deep below the surface.
Ingo Swann and Hella Hammid astounded skeptical scientists with
their amazingly accurate psychic predictions.
"I must say we did find the

led the vessel to sunken artifacts.
Swann and Hammid were
each given a chart covering
1,500 square miles of Pacific
Ocean off the California coast.
They were asked to use their
powers to pinpoint the undersea
location of an undiscovered
shipwreck, and predict what
would be found there.
"What was astounding was
that they both independently
selected the same site -- a few
hundred yards apart," said
Eugene Veek, associate direo-
tor for facilities at the Marine
Institute, and former .com-
mander of a U.S. Nary sub-
marine.

scriptions of a pipe, cables,

Then divers aboard the Tau-
rus I set out to the area -- near
California's Catalina Island.
Actually, the submarine had
been in the area for five months
working with sonar, but had
found nothing to indicate
Shipwreck, socording to Allan
Witcombe, the chief pilot.
But with the psychics' maps
- and them aboard - # was a
different story.

Swann began directing the Tau-

Witcombe.
"It was amazing. He directed
to one object after another.
"The predictions were aston-
chingly accurate. There were

pasy to identify the artifacts

"It was
amazing."
Dr. Kahle, a
renowned geo-
physicist who'
grama, agreed. "We really
found a lot of unexpected things
that were similar to what were
described by the psychics."
Even a top government ma-
rine expert admitted that the
amazing accuracy of the two
psychics is astonishing. "I don't
think anyone was trying to fool
the scientists," said Thomas S.
Cooke of the U.S. Bureau of
Land Management.
Dr. Don Walsh, director of the
Institute for Marine and Coastal
Studies, evaluated Project
Deep Quest, looking for any
possible fraud.
"I'm not necessarily a sup-
porter, but I couldn't find any-
thing to cast doubt on the psy-
chics' claims," he said.
Could the find have been
"salted" - the artifacts placed
there recently?
"It would be extremely dif-
ficult to take this," said Dr.
Walsh. .
"To put things down on the
Icean floor that have allegedly
been there that long and make
them look that way would tax

dects man.
