1 Approved For Release 2002/11/13 : CIA-RDP79-00999A000400050005-1 CONFIDENTIAL OTS/BAB MEMO #231-74 3 July 1974 MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD SUBJECT: Proposed remote-viewing experiment at SRI 1. represented BAB in a meeting with CB; ORD/LSR, and OTS Security, in which discussed plans for a remote-viewing experiment involving the psychic Patrick Price at SRI, July 8-12. In the experiment, Price will be given the geographic co-ordinates of a Soviet installation in the Ural Mountains on which NPIC has detailed photographic coverage, enough to have constructed a scale model. Depending on Price's success, the experiment will proceed in three stages: 1) Price will be asked to describe the installation's rather distinctive exterior fea- tures; 2) he will be asked to provide floor plans and descrip- tions of the interior of the facility; and 3) he will be asked to describe operations within the facility, using as guides questions prepared by the Nuclear Energy Division. Price will receive minimal cues to assure he has acquired the designated target, and later, to encourage maximum information flow. BAB was asked to comment on Price's probable reaction to the proposed experiment, in particular whether he would find the task sufficiently challenging to elicit his best effort, and whether he would react adversely when told (in Stage 2) that the task has been laid on by "government intel- ligence." We advised that Price would probably respond favorably in both instances. Price has already used his psychic skills clandestinely in police work and he also professes to

We advised to avoid SG11 certain red-flag topics when dealing with Price, particularly those related to mind-altering agents and techniques: Psychi - atrists and Psychiatry, hypnosis, and psychoactive drugs. 3. The program is still in the test/experimental stage, despite the fact that it has moved in a more practical direction with the inclusion of an actual target. It will move in a real operational direction when, and if, Price passes his series of tests.
